Hogsback is a village high up in the Amatola Mountains in the Eastern Cape Province, South Africa. The village overlooks the rivers and slopes of the Thyume valley. It got its name from nearby mountain peaks which resembles the bristles of a hog’s back.

Imbedded deep in the indigenous forest of Hogsback surrounded by a majestic valley with views overlooking Binfield Dam. Serendipity definitely surprises one with not only breathtaking views but the emancipation is immediately felt and every visit is worth coming back for.
Hogsback is best known for inspiring famous world renowned author JRR Tolkien to write his books; The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit. With the beautiful luscious Hogs 1, 2 and 3 which are situated in the great Amatole Mountains, Serendipity has one of the best out of many views in Hogsback. Summer, winter, autumn or spring is perfect times of the year to come and visit.
