What is new at Level 2?

Now that Hogsback is open again for travel and leisure visits, everybody wants to know what they can and cannot do under level 2. So here it is:

Yes please. Come and enjoy the hiking trails, waterfalls and forests. You can come as a day visitor or come and spend a few days here, which, of course, is much better!

The Info Centre
Our Info Centre has temporarily moved to our little Woltree Village shop, which can be found at the beginning of Main road on the right, as you come up the pass, opposite Swallowtail Country Estate. Glen is only to happy to direct you in the right direction, and you will also be able to get some maps and advice from her, while perusing her quaint little shop. We suggest that you buy some of her amazing homemade lemon cordial and pasta salad (to die for!).

Alcohol sales
We do have a liquor store which is licensed to sell alcohol for off-site consumption and is open from 09:00 to 17:00, from Mondays to Thursdays. That means that the store is closed on Fridays, weekends, and public holidays. You can, however, buy alcohol at licensed premises, like bars, restaurants and hotels, for on-site consumption over the weekend, until the curfew of 22:00.

Hotels, guesthouses and self-catering
Under level 2 leisure accommodation is now allowed, even if you are from another province – “subject to a restriction on the number of persons allowed in such establishments to not more than 50% of the available floor space, with patrons observing a distance of at least one and a half metres from each other”. Most of the accommodation places are open for business and are adhering to the Covid-19 regulations procedures and sanitation practices. Make sure that you ask your host about that and what they will require of you. Everybody is desperate to get out of town and let their hair down, so make sure that you book well in advance!! You can complete the booking information form here, which will go out to all the establishments, and those who still have space available for your stay, will get back to you with prices and availability.

Our Savemor is generally well stocked with essentials and does amazing fresh rolls.

We even have a lovely take-away, The Whole Hog, next to the Supermarket, where you can buy freshly made burgers, pancakes, boerie rolls and more. Give Rory a call to pre-order from the Whole Hog (064 429 5792)

Staying in the Main road, we have the Woltree shop (Glen: with what-nots and more as well as a home industry and gift shop at the Happy Hogs restaurant.

Then there is Jikani where you can buy locally upcycled clothing and lots more, which is used for our local outreach initiatives.

At Happy Hogs Home industry and local arts and crafts shop you can find great home baked deliciousness, bags, jewelry, woodwork and much more.

The Chocolate Shop in the main road, should definitely be avoided as it is bound to feed your chocolate craving with the MOST divine offerings. Avoid if you are dieting!!

Hogsback Buy and Sell is open occasionally and you can buy anything 2nd hand (and we mean anything) there, from spoons to lamps to wool to buckets to desks and chairs. Whatsapp Christine (082 453 3091) to inquire about when the shop is open. It can be found opposite the Supermarket.

Crystal Corner in Bramble road on the way to the Edge. You will love their amazing collections of crystals, minerals, rings, pendants, earrings and bracelets. They also have an online shop here: crystalcorner.co/

The Mountain Mojo shop at the Edge personifies the Hogsback look where you will find one of a kind alternative clothing and accessories. The shop is open on weekends and will be open during the week as well from the first of September.
